As a USA Track & Field (USATF) sanctioned event, the Indy Half Marathon at Fort Ben, 10K, 5K, and Kids One Mile Run is subject to the USATF Competition Rules. The Policies and Procedures incorporate the USATF Rules and additional provisions adopted by Beyond Monumental to ensure a safe, fair race for all participants. WHAT ARE THE RACE TIME LIMITS?
All race participants must maintain a pace of approximately 18:00 per mile. No times are recorded after 12:00 p.m. for the half marathon.
Continuing on the course after course closure is at your own risk. You will be asked by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department to move off the streets to allow for vehicle traffic. No times are recorded after 12:00 p.m. for the half marathon. Finisher medals will be awarded only to those finishing within the specified time limit.
WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT FOR EACH RACE DISTANCE?
Half Marathon and 10K participants must be 10 years of age or older on race day.
5K participants must be 5 years of age or older on race day.
We encourage parents to register children aged 6 and younger for the Kids One Mile Fun Run.
All participants must sign/agree to the Event waiver. A parent or legal guardian must register participants under 18 years of age and sign/agree to the Event waiver.

CAN SOMEONE ELSE PICK UP MY PACKET?
Yes. They must present the email that includes your ASSIGNED RACE BIB NUMBER or a copy of your government-issued photo ID. Digital or printed copies of the email and government-issued photo ID are acceptable for Packet Pickup.
MAY I PICK UP MY PACKET ON RACE DAY?
You can purchase Race Day Packet Will Call when you register or add it later by logging into your BEYOND MONUMENTAL PARTICIPANT ACCOUNT and selecting Buy Products. Quantities are limited and subject to availability.
We will share the hours and location for Race Day Packet Will Call in pre-race communications if you purchase this product.
WHAT IF I DON’T FEEL WELL ON RACE WEEKEND?
You should not attend the Expo and Packet Pickup or the Event if you are sick. If you cannot attend due to sickness, please email INFO@BEYONDMONUMENTAL.ORG to discuss options.
WHAT ITEMS ARE REQUIRED ON THE COURSE?
You must wear your race bib at all times. Your bib should be worn conspicuously on the front (and back when applicable) for the entire Event.
WHAT ITEMS ARE NOT ALLOWED OR NOT RECOMMENDED ON THE COURSE?
You WILL NOT be allowed to participate with animals, bicycles, baby joggers, strollers, roller skates, inline skates, or any other not approved wheeled devices.
You may use your cell phone so long as you don’t pose a safety hazard on the course. Selfie sticks and camera mounts/rigs are prohibited. Other items such as large bags, coolers, props, non-running items, and weapons are not allowed on the course. Please use your best judgment regarding the safety of all participants for items not listed.

HOW WILL THE START AREA AND WAVES WORK ON RACE MORNING?
The Event will use multiple waves *. What does a wave start mean?
– The race will have multiple start times.
– The Half Marathon and 10K will be broken into separate “waves” of participants, based on the expected finish times provided during registration.
– Participants will line up in their pre-assigned wave as indicated on their race bib. Participants may move back to a slower wave, but will not be allowed to move up to a faster wave on Race Day.
– The event is chip timed so your official time will remain unaffected.

WHAT IS ‘KILL THE HILL’ AND HOW DO I COMPETE?
The Kill the Hill challenge can be found along the half marathon course between miles 10 and 11. It is a ~320-meter segment that starts around Delaware Lake and follows Harrison Trace Trail east uphill. There will be timing mats at the start and end of this segment for participants to show off their speed. Awards will be given to the top finishers in the Youth, Open, and Masters divisions.
Overall winners and age group winners are not eligible to win the Kill the Hill awards as well.
WHAT HAPPENS IF EXTREME WEATHER HAPPENS DURING THE EVENT?
If extreme weather or an emergency situation becomes an issue during the Event, the Command Group will meet and determine the status/future of the Event. Depending on the situation, the Event may be delayed, ended early, or canceled. Information will be relayed to the race committee. Participants will be notified by course monitors and race officials. Participants will be required to use their best judgment, based on the situation, as to the next best course of action.

CAN I CONTINUE RUNNING ON THE COURSE IF I DON’T COMPLETE THE RACE PRIOR TO COURSE CLOSURE?

You may not receive full on-course support from aid stations and traffic safety personnel and you may not be allowed to complete the full race distance. Finisher medals will be awarded only to those finishing within the specified time limit.
WHAT IF I NEED MEDICAL ATTENTION DURING THE RACE?
Medical personnel will be stationed on the course to provide medical assistance.
Event-authorized medical personnel may examine any participant who appears in distress. If in the sole opinion of authorized medical personnel, it is in the best interest of the participant’s health and welfare, medical personnel may remove a participant from the Event. Participants must retire at once from the race if ordered to do so by a member of the Event’s official staff, official medical staff, or any governmental authority, including fire and police officials.
Participants are responsible and assume liability for any and all medical expenses incurred as a result of training for and/or participation in the Event, including but not limited to ambulance transport, hospital stays, physician and pharmaceutical goods and services.
IMPORTANT: It is recommended that you write any medical conditions, medications, allergies, and emergency contacts on the backside of your race bib. You must wear your race bib at all times during the event.
CAN I LEAVE THE COURSE AND COME BACK?
You will be disqualified if you leave the course.
You, as a registered participant, are responsible for recognizing and understanding Event signage and symbols relating to course maps and directions.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I COMPLETE A DIFFERENT RACE DISTANCE THAN MY REGISTERED RACE DISTANCE?
We encourage you to officially upgrade/downgrade and make other changes to your race registration prior to the race start to ensure all results are correct and official.
WILL THE HALF MARATHON HAVE PACERS?
Yes. Half marathon pacers will cover, at a minimum: 1:30, 1:35, 1:40, 1:45, 1:50, 1:55, 2:00, 2:10, 2:20, 2:30, and 3:55.
Other paces may be available based on the number of available pacers and estimated finish times for the field.
WHO WILL RECEIVE AGE GROUP AWARDS?
HALF MARATHON AND 10K – First place male, female, and non-binary finishers by chip time. 10-12, 13-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 & over
5K – First place male, female, and non-binary finishers by chip time. 11 & under, 12-15, 16-18, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 & over
Elite Athletes are not be eligible for Age Group Awards.
WHEN AND WHERE WILL AWARDS BE DISTRIBUTED?
All finishers will receive a medal in the Finish Chute.
The top finisher in each age group will earn an Age Group Award!
– All age group winners must pick up their award at the Results & Awards Tent on Race Day. Be sure to hang out and enjoy the Post Race Celebration to see if you receive an Age Group Award!
Elite Athletes are not eligible for Age Group Awards.
HOW CAN I CHECK MY RESULTS?
There are several different ways to check your results after you finish.
– Visit the Results & Awards Tent in the Post Race Celebration to receive a printout of your finish time.
– View live results at WWW.INDYHALFMARATHON.COM.
– Download the Beyond Monumental mobile app in your favorite app store.

AMENDMENTS/CHANGES TO EVENT RULES & POLICIES
– Event officials reserve the right to modify, supplement, or waive all or part of the Event rules.
– Participants shall be bound by any modification or supplement of the Event rules published prior to the Event.
– Failure to follow Event rules may result in immediate disqualification, loss of prizes, and removal from official results.
Participants must follow instructions as given by Event officials including race staff, volunteers, medical personnel, fire and police officials, security officers, and city officials throughout the duration of the Event. Event attendees must adhere to Event, city, state, and other public health guidelines and orders.
